Science tells us that at all ages, we need play in our lives. Play is a critical part of how our brain takes a break and recharge and how we experiment. Through play, we connect with friends and family. Unfortunately, as we get older, play is often considered wasting time or being unproductive. Well, we say that’s simply not true.
We believe in play for all ages, and we believe you can find play in the everyday. This summer at River Market, we invite you to play with us and get to know your neighbours and meet new friends. Together with our shops, we bring back the idea of play. The Summer of Play is a series of workshops on topics you’ve been curious about and skills you’ve always wanted to learn. For the foodies, we have how to sharpen a knife, how to make traditional Mexican salsa, and how to make quick pickles. For those who love games, come learn to play chess or cards. For those who love art, we have an evening of printmaking with fish; yes, fish. See the complete list at rivermarket.ca/summer and find ones that pique your interests.
The workshops are free and run about an hour long. Some workshops require registration two weeks before the workshop.
We kick of The Summer of Play with DIY Laundry Soap to get your summer tees clean and bright! Register for this workshop: sopdiylaundrysoap.eventbrite.ca
