This is a series showcasing kids reviewing food at River Market restaurants. Kids often are the pickiest of eaters, and the objective is to showcase what kids perceive to be delicious, and what the parent determines to be nutritious.
The fifth in the series is the Rotisserie Chicken, with Rice and Papaya Salad from Freebird Chicken Shack. We interviewed Clara on her thoughts, and here is what she had to say.
Restaurant: Freebird Chicken Shack
Ordered: Quarter Rotisserie Chicken, with Papaya Salad and Rice
Adjustments: No additional sauces
Wait time: 7 minutes
Talent: Clara Julie Fairbairn
Age: 5 years old
Clara usually sits at the bar at Freebird, and likes to watch the cook behind the glass working away.
What do you like about what you are eating today?
I love the chicken skin. I don’t really like the papaya salad, but I think the rice is really yummy. I also don’t eat the things on top of the rice, I think it is too spicy. I really just like the chicken.
Do you know what you want to be when you grow up? Would you be a food critic?
Not a food critic. I want to be a scientist and a weather man.
What is your favourite thing to eat in the world?
Spaghetti and meatballs (but no cheese). I really like tomato sauce.
Would you share what you are having with your friends?
Yes, I would.
What is something else you like eating at River Market?
Chicken Tortilla Soup from Pamola Bakery
Would you recommend what you are eating to other kids?
NO! because it is so good, I don’t want them to eat it all! But I would share if I had too.
What does the parent think about the dish? Vashti is Clara’s mom, and she owns Music Box Academy.
We really love the rice. I usually end up eating the papaya salad. Sometime she gets extra rice instead of the salad. We usually take the extra rice home, and make it into something else. Clara will usually eat the entire quarter chicken by herself!
Thank you Clara for your time.
